This means: you are no longer permitted to drive a motor vehicle until a new driving licence is issued to you. Unlike with a driving ban, you do not get your licence back automatically. The revocation is considered an official or judicial measure if you are deemed unfit to drive vehicles. Only once the disqualification period has expired may a new driving licence be issued to you.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"gruende\">When is your driving licence at risk of being revoked? Reasons for revocation<\/h2>\n<p>A driving licence disqualification can be imposed for various reasons. The most common are:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Drink-driving<\/h3>\n<p>From 1.1 per mille, driving under the influence of alcohol is a criminal offence: as a result, the driving licence is generally revoked. Even from 0.3 per mille, revocation may be threatened if your driving is conspicuous.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Drug-driving<\/h3>\n<p>Anyone who drives under the influence of drugs or medication immediately risks having their driving licence revoked. Even the possession of drugs can raise doubts about fitness to drive.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Penalty points in Flensburg<\/h3>\n<p>If you reach eight points in the driving fitness register, your driving licence is automatically revoked. Your point total is reset to zero as soon as you receive a new driving licence.<\/p>\n<h3>4. But the difference is crucial:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A driving ban usually lasts from one to three months. During this time you have to surrender your driving licence, but you get it back automatically once the period has expired. In contrast, in the case of a revocation of a driving licence, the licence is completely cancelled. You are only allowed to drive again once you have fulfilled all the conditions and the driving licence authority issues you a new one.<\/p>\n<p>So if you do not apply for a new driving licence after the disqualification period has expired, you will remain permanently without a licence, even if the period has long since passed.<\/p>\n<h3>Driving ban or revocation? When the medical-psychological assessment (MPU) is due<\/h2>\n<p>The MPU is one of the most common conditions following the revocation of a driving licence. The medical-psychological assessment ensures whether you are fit to participate in road traffic as a driver again. Especially in the case of alcohol, drug or penalty point offences, it is almost always mandatory in order not to endanger yourself and other road users. The court can lift a disqualification early if it becomes clear that you are fit to drive again \u2013 at the earliest once it has lasted three months, or at the earliest after one year following a previous disqualification (\u00a7 69a Abs. 7 StGB). Successful participation in driver improvement courses or abstinence programmes can be viewed positively in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>However, you should always coordinate such steps with a solicitor or the driving licence authority, as not every measure automatically leads to a reduction.<\/p>\n<h3>Fine, penalty &amp; costs of a driving ban<\/h3>\n<p>Disqualification from driving is expensive. Alongside potential fines, court or legal fees, there are expenses for the MPU, medical reports or new tests. The total costs can quickly add up to several thousand euros.<\/p>\n<p>On top of this, there are often professional restrictions: anyone who relies on a car may lose their job or have to accept long detours. It is best to submit the application for reissue about six months before the disqualification period expires, as processing often takes some time.<\/p>\n<p><b>The following documents are usually required:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identity card or passport<\/li>\n<li>Biometric passport photo<\/li>\n<li>Medical or psychological report (depending on the case)<\/li>\n<li>Proof of completed conditions or MPU<\/li>\n<li>The driving licence authority will then check your suitability and decide whether you need to take a theoretical or practical driving test again. Only once the new driving licence has been issued are you permitted to drive again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fp-rg-tipp\"><b>Tip: If you have to retake the test after your licence has been revoked, Fahrschule FAHRPLAN will prepare you thoroughly for it.<\/b><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"probezeit\">Revocation of driving licence during the probationary period<\/h2>\n<p>New drivers are under special observation. Anyone who breaks the rules during their probationary period must expect severe consequences. Even a single serious \u2018A\u2019 offence (e.g. drink-driving, running a red light) or two \u2018B\u2019 offences will lead to an extension of the probationary period and mandatory remedial training. Under the tiered system, revocation only follows the third time \u2013 or immediately if you do not complete the remedial course on time or a court revokes the driving licence because of a criminal offence.<br \/>\nIt is all the more important to take on responsibility at an early stage and avoid risk situations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"fp-rg-hinweis\"><strong>Important for novice drivers:<\/strong> During the probationary period and under 21, the zero-tolerance limit applies \u2013 and this now explicitly includes <strong>also cannabis<\/strong> (Section 24c StVG; the only exception is medically prescribed THC when taken as directed).
